Arising from the deep of the west coast’s underground electro scene in L.A., the Glitch Mob has gained its following from their other worldly, un-reproducible sound since the 2000s. The mob consists of ediT (Edward Ma), Boreta (Justin Boreta) and Ooah (Josh Mayer), each with their own stage name. The three decided to collaborate their skills after months of DJing shows back to back at the same club. Once the trio was formed they blasted out of the small yet loyal Los Angeles scene, and skyrocketed up the shoots of the EDM industry with their undeniable talent.
The Glitch Mob is truly a pioneer in EDM, breaking the normality of current electronic music. When heard, their music instantly gives a futuristic, almost robotic, dance feel to the listener. Their bass-driven electro releases a powerful deep sound, almost the polar opposite of house music. Somehow, the Mob takes this impressive lineup of ruckus sounds and seams them together in a way that makes you want to dance along for hours. Live, the collective group synthesizes their individual DJing styles together to create a dual sense of head banging rock music with an effortless current of melody. The groups’ arguably most famous song, “We Can Make the World Stop” (https://soundcloud.com/theglitchmob/we-can-make-the-world-stop) is a perfect example of their collaboration. A deep emotionally moving bass sound proves to be a smooth rendition of dance music combined with a heavy hip-hop influence. Along with their own successful mixes, The Glitch Mob has added their personal flare to a number of popular songs. For example, Bassnectar’s “Heads Up” and even Daft Punk’s “Derezzed” (https://soundcloud.com/theglitchmob/daft-punk-derezzed-the-glitch), a personal favorite. Toning down the intense mechanical sounds, the song “Between Two Points” shows the ease at which the Glitch Mob can transform their sound into something entirely different; this song could be used in place of a lullaby but still sounds badass. Fans can praise the variation in their songs that still maintain their same undeniable artistic sound. (https://soundcloud.com/theglitchmob/between-two-points-feat-swan)
