Incase you haven’t caught wind; there is an extremely powerful new sound, a sound that is capturing the hearts of EDM lovers everywhere. Throwing the listener back to some of the original electronic sound, before the likes of massive drops and face melting dubstep. Disclosure is bringing back deep 90’s garage house. These two English Brothers, Guy and Howard Lawrence are throwing down insanely groovy deep house that is impossible to sit still to. Disclosure’s sensual funky sound has led them all over the world, spinning unique songs from their newest album “Settle” released this past June. The duo has since been tearing up the EDM scene playing at major festivals such as Coachella, Lolapalooza, Sasquatch and countless private shows.
Personally, I have listened to each track these gifted brothers have produced at least a hundred times, even my roommate never got sick of them. In fact, I saw them live for the second time right here in Boulder, bringing with me friends of whom are now devoted Disclosure fans. Some favorites from the fresh album being “White Noise” featuring Aluna George which just won best song at the NME awards in the UK , “You and Me” and “Latch” (their most popular track). Each song is produced and written by the mastermind brothers, the vocals however, are mostly sung by singers such as London Grammar and Aluna George.
Each track has this seamless blend of funky beat and lovely vocal, to me this is what Disclosure does best. With such positive feedback from fans and critics alike, “Settle” had a 2014 Grammy Nomination for best electronic music album, as well as a nomination for the best breakthrough artist at the Brit Awards. Disclosure’s talent and success of “Settle” in 2013 is quickly leading them to electronic music stardom. The Lawrence brothers’ distinct and unforgettable sound is sure to spread immensely this year as more people uncover their existence.
