1. Outkast

1. Outkast

Outkast closes the festival on the Hangout stage at 9pm on Sunday, May 18th. What makes this set a must see though? Outkast’s performance is a must see because this is the first time they have ever performed at Hangout Music Festival. Not only is it Outkast’s first time at Hangout, its also one of their stops for their 20-year anniversary tour. Outkast’s music style can be compared to fluid rap lyrics with a southern soul driving beat that makes you feel the energy in every word.  With nearly 25 million records sold to the day, and with hits such as “Hey Ya!”, “Roses”, and “Ms. Jackson” Outkast is a must see set at the 2014 Hang Out Music Festival!

Colorado native Derek Vincent Smith, or stage name “Pretty Lights” has rocked the funk out of towns across America for years. Hangout Music festival is in for a treat with him. This will be Pretty Lights’ second time at Hangout Music Festival; with his first appearance being in May of 2011. Pretty Lights is a must see this year because not only does he have a new album that was released in 2013, A Color Map of the Sun, that he will perform but he also improved his lighting system in the 3 years that he’s been away from Hangout Music Festival. 4. STS9

4. STS9

Although this isn’t STS9’s first time playing at Hangout Music Festival that doesn’t stop them from throwing the funk down. With STS9’s smooth funky dub-infused beats it creates one of the most jam filled funky atmospheres that you will ever experience at a show. Through every STS9 performance they electrify the crowd with nothing but love and funk. That’s another reason why their set is a must see, the crowd at any STS9 show is something to be treasured. If you can get down to electro-funk beats and haven’t seen STS9 then this show is an absolute must see. Stand up comedian Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, is a definite must see at this upcoming Hangout Music Festival. 7. Portugal. The Man

Though Portugal. The Man is no stranger to Hangout Festival, this year I think all Hangout Festival attendees will be in for a surprise. Not only have they released a new song called “Sumatran Tiger” but also since their Hangout Festival debut in 2011, they have come out with their new album “Evil Friends”. Portugal. The Man will rock the soul and rock back into your heart with tracks like “Hip Hop Kids” and “Modern Jesus”. Portugal.
