Why We Love Electric Forest
Electric Forest Festival is a four-day multi-genre event, with a focus on electronic and jam band genres, held in Rothbury, Michigan, at the Double JJ Resort. This year the festival will take place June 25th-28th 2015 in good ol’ Rothbury, MI. This exceptional festival draws in many unique individuals for many different reasons but the top five reasons people freak out for the forest is:
1. The Atmosphere
If I absolutely had to pick my favorite part of Electric Forest, the atmosphere would take the cake. The Sherwood Forest is probably the most magical place you will ever be… With fairies, flow arts, Ferris Wheels, and nothing but flower children running around this enchanted forest, you will no doubt be transformed after submerging yourself in the love of the Sherwood Forest. The amount of passion and happiness dancing in between those gorgeous trees is beyond me. Truly a microcosm of hope of what the world could be.
2. The Lineup
For all the years that Electric Forest has been alive and thriving, never once has the lineup failed to be anything less than incredible! Renowned artists such as STS9, Bassnectar, Pretty Lights, Lotus, Nahko, Beats Antique, Edward Sharpe, EOTO, Papadosio, Ms Lauryn Hill, Grizmatik, Above & Beyond, Umphreys Mcgee, and MANY MORE have been on past lineups. Recurring artists continue to return to this famous festival, including The String Cheese Incident, who have been with the festival since it's very foundation when it was simply called "Rothbury". No fan wants to miss this festival and no artist does either. You can tell by the performances put on, it is privilege for the artists to be experiencing the magic of Electric Forest just as much as it is a privilege for us to be experiencing the same thing.
3. The People
Having such a diverse lineup brings in a very diverse group of people. This aspect of Electric Forest is especially unique because there are so many DIFFERENT types of people all coming together for the same reason, for the love of electric forest. You get to meet so many unique individuals from all around the state, the country and even the world. Everyone is so different, but those differences are celebrated and acknowledged as beauty.
4. The Merchandise (Art, Clothes, and Food for Sale)
The merch booths are something to see! You really get a taste of the amount of talented individuals when you visit the merch boots. I made the very large mistake of not bringing enough spending money so be sure to save a couple bucks to support the artists. They have everything from tapestries to wire wraps to paintings to French toast. And I assure you, you’ll want it all. I’m still kicking myself in the butt for not having enough to buy that Alex Grey painting, so don’t make the same mistakes I did. Save your money for the merch booths.
5. The Family
The tradition and family submersed in the forest is something almost impossible to ignore. Even with so many different people, everyone is your friend there. Actually even more than your friend, everyone becomes your family there. The forest becomes a home and everyone in it becomes your family. It’s a beautiful metamorphosis for us all to step out of our usual aloofness towards one another for a little while. In the forest, humanity makes a complete 180 and goes from strangers to friends, to lovers, to family. Everyone belongs and no one gets left behind.
But don’t take my word for it, come join our family for yourself. Whoever you are, whatever you are, you are welcome and you are loved here. Come join the forest family today! Tickets for 2015 are available at http://www.electricforestfestival.com/ticket-information/ga-camping/ .
