Liam Shea, aka Templo, strives to blend atmospheric soundscapes with head bobbing beats. Today, releasing his new EP, Sunrise Vol. II, he blends an ambient flow with captivating vocals and melodies to create a unique listening experience. This portion of the Sunrise sequence creates an encompassing finale to Sunrise Vol. I.
With his music, you will hear all original riffs and drum beats, found especially in his latest releases, which included a double EP, Sunrise and Sunset. In the last two years, Templo has played alongside some of the top experimental producers such as Kalya Scintilla, Random Rab, The Polish Ambassador, EOTO and Bluetech. Appearing at festivals such as Gem & Jam, Sonic Bloom, and Arise Music Festival, Templo presents a unique live experience incorporating downtempo trip-hop, funk and dub elements, with deep melodic bass sounds.
The psychedelic influences of these fellow artists are evident in Templo’s tranquil, upbeat songs. “Mai Dai” takes the listener to a jungle safari, frolicking in the treetops with the monkeys. Next, the vocals in “Morning Friend” reminisce on a bittersweet peaceful morning, waking up to a glorious skyline filled with the colors of the sunrise, very fitting for the title of the EP. Templo’s “Peaking Over” reminds the listener of a day in the sun, waking up from a slumber on the beach to splash about in the waves while the rays warm your skin. Bleeding over into “Something Like Us,” this track takes influences from all the previous songs. It incorporates the same style of vocals in “Morning Friend” with a more upbeat sweeping melody, reflecting the wonder of the simplicities in life, such as the majesty of a glorious sunrise. The name of the track deeply reflects the atmosphere of the track, making the listener wonder if there’s something bigger than us out there. Finally, Sunrise Vol. II completes with “You Saved Me,” a meditative yet still danceable conclusion to summarize the EP. It is reminiscent of a funky shavasana, bringing the nomadic sequence of tracks to a final close.
