May 15, Hang Out Festival

Day 1 Shenanigans.

As of now, we are continuing our adventures on festival tour. So far we've driven 20-something hours from Boulder, Colorado to Gulf Shores, Alabama. The Jetta is holding up, surprisingly, no bumper and all.

We officially hate Kansas. Driving through Kansas is basically just driving on a straight road for hundreds of miles with nothing to look at but corn fields and passing billboards that say "JESUS IS REAL" or "I NEED A KIDNEY."

…and then we camped in Arkansas. In the middle of an abandoned soccer field, off of the highway. It honestly worked out pretty well besides the fact that it was 40 degrees out, dewey, and we forgot to put the tarp over the tent, so we got a little wet.

The remaining part of the drive has brought up to the conclusion that the south REALLY loves their antique shops and waffle houses. It would also be pretty safe to say there are more churches than houses in the South, and that no one here can understand our Northern Accents.

We eventually made it to Gulf Shores on Thursday night. Did we make it into the festival? NOPE. We confidently walked up to the box office to get our media passes and were straight up denied. Apparently the box office had closed at 9pm and by the time we got there it was 9:30. Might I add that the security guard was incredibly rude and not at all willing to work with us. We're not fans of Hangout festival at the moment but hopefully that will change over the next couple of days.

To make matters even better, and by better I mean worse… We were unpleasantly informed that you need to be 21 or older to get a hotel room in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Therefore we went with option B and set up the tent again.

This Morning we were abruptly awoken by a loud siren noise and someone tapping on the tent saying "time to go!." no, this was not a friendly neighbor, more like a park ranger threatening to arrest us if we didn't pack up in 20 minutes or less.

Now we are sitting in a Starbucks, getting organized for the day and getting our articles posts. Then we are off to media Check in for day 1. We are SO excited for tonight.

Peace and Love,
