Wakarusa Lineup Debate

Wakarusa Music Festival returns to the mystical Mulberry Mountain for its 12th year in a row.  This year with a line up that makes many Waka veterans question whether or not they want to return to the mountain. With a tidal wave of electronic artists to hit the lineup, this festival may be changing form, a festival that was very much so jam-based every year previous.

Don't get me wrong; this year’s festival is bound to be nothing short of amazing. With acts like Umphrey’s McGee, STS9, The Roots, Lotus, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Rebelution and Slightly Stoopid, this festival is still very much so jam-based. Wakarusa is also bringing some low key acts with true Wakarusa vibes to the mountain, acts like Nahko and Medicine for the People, Conspirator, SAVOY and The Nth Power are sure to put on shows that you do not want to miss.

The debate comes with the amount of electronic headliners the festival will have this year. Should Wakarusa have conformed to the mainstream of the electronic culture? Past Waka attendees are not so pleased seeing names like Major Lazer, Big Gigantic, Chance the Rapper and Bro Safari as headline acts for their once famed jam fest. Do you think that Waka will be over run by the fast and sometimes careless mainstream scene, or will this wonderful music festival be able to stick to its roots with the family like vibes it is use to year after year.

What do you think?
