Fare Thee Well: The Grateful Dead's 50th Anniversary Show
50 years later and the legacy of The Grateful Dead is still thriving. 60,000 pre-sale orders have already been purchased, making up over 350,000 tickets. Fare Thee Well, The Grateful Dead 50th Anniversary concerts, will take place on July 3, 4, and 5 at Chicago’s Soldier Field, the venue that The Dead played their final show together.
Four of the original members (Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann) will be accompanied by Trey Anastasio, Jeff Chimenti, and Bruce Hornsby all three nights. With this group of musicians, expectations for the shows are extremely high. The chemistry and talent of these prodigious seven musicians guarantees an incredible weekend of classic Dead music.
The Grateful Dead had a legacy and following unlike any other band. People followed the band for weeks on their tours, doing almost anything to see the band over and over again. Only something truly special could continuously bring together so many people. The Fare Thee Well shows this summer will give fans an opportunity to relive fond memories from The Dead’s touring years. Old fans will finally have a chance to share the experience they have been trying to explain to friends and family for years.
Due to the overwhelming amount of tickets that have already been ordered, presale tickets are no longer available. On February 28 at 10AM, normal tickets will be available, ranging from $59.50 to $199.50. Get ready Chicago, you’re in for a treat. The Music Never Stopped!
