EDCLV 2014 Lineup Announcement
This past week the CEO of Insomniac Events, Pasquale Rotella, released information about the much anticipated EDCLV lineup, however, the announcement was not what many fans were hoping to hear. Pasquale stated that the lineup will be announced May 27, which is almost a month later than the EDCLV 2013 lineup was released. Last year’s lineup consisted of over 200 of popular DJ acts as well as up-and-coming artists. EDCLV boasts seven stages, many geared towards a particular sub-genre of EDM. Over the past few years EDC lineups have seemed to please almost everyone, so this year’s is not expected to disappoint. Despite the assurance the lineup will be one of the best of the year, fans are dying to find out exactly what artists they will be seeing at EDC this summer.
Along with announcing the date for the lineup drop, Pasquale included an intimate message to his fans regarding his opinions about current dance music culture. He tells fans not to fear, a lineup will be released soon, and he asks them to stop stressing about who the artists will be. Rotella says that when he was young and was exploring dance culture, the artist who was djing the party, was generally irrelevant. He writes, “Oftentimes we wouldn’t know who was playing until we got to the spot, but it didn’t matter because we knew it was going to be off the hook”. He addresses the fact that many have accused him of being too old-school in his beliefs, but he argues that even though the electronic music scene is evolving, events are still what you make of them. Rotella says regardless of who the artist is that is playing, “It’s all about the collective energy and positive vibes that come from the overall experience.”
Pasquale wants to make a point to fans that EDC and Insomniac Events, are promoting a positive environment, for all types of people, from all around the globe, who all share a passion for dance music. We all need to take a step back and stop demanding a lineup from Insomniac, because at the end of the day, we know that the event will go above and beyond all of our expectations, regardless of who is headlining.
Rotella’s messages ends with, “Rest assured, our amazing team of owls are working night and day to make sure all of the EDC details are on point. We will announce the lineup on May 27th, but until then keep those positive vibes flowing, and focus your excitement on what you are going to experience and how you are going to make this year’s event special for you and your friends. This is a celebration, not a concert. Just because dance music has broken through to the mainstream doesn’t mean we need to play by those rules or subscribe to that way of thinking. It’s what I learned as a fan, and it’s been my touchstone since I started Insomniac. It’s also what’s added so much joy and happiness to my life, and I’m going to hold that torch for as long as I can with the hope that it brings joy and happiness to you, too.”
