In search of salvation? Look no further. The Church of Funk will be kicking off its new monthly series on Sunday, May 31st at The Meadowlark in Denver. This first installment will be featuring three of Denver’s own up and coming artists - Mosis, Marcelo Moxy, and Milky.WAV. You won’t want to sleep on this one; these three artists are truly changing the game in Denver, and it doesn’t go unnoticed that these guys bring a breath of fresh air to whatever room they play in. Each one of these artists are very different in their own ways when it comes to sound, presence, and energy in general. However, they are all constantly contributing their own tastes and talent to the Denver music scene. Each set will be exceptionally unique and remarkably rare. It’s not everyday that you see three music dons play back to back [to back], and not to mention in such a small and intimate venue. Expect smooth and funky (real funk) hip-hop vibes with a beautiful break of an all vinyl set from Marcelo Moxy. Just expect to be at the edge of your seat the entire night. Your ears will thank you later.
I have recently taken into account that people want to see a change in the Denver nightlife scene, and I couldn't agree more. I think that Souls in Action Entertainment are ahead of the curve with this event for it is something we haven’t seen or experienced yet in this city. If this really is a new monthly installment, we can’t wait for what’s yet to come. When a party is epic, it really makes an impact on you, and you'll always have memories of that night held close to your heart. Once a month is the perfect set up for an event like this; it's just enough time for people to let the night sink in, and anticipate the next party. Perfect strategy in my opinion.
In the mean time, join the Church of Funk group on Facebook for your dose of all things funk-related; submissions are sent in by members of the congregation almost daily. I hope to see everyone out here supporting some of Denver’s very own and not to mention best talent in the game right now. And for those of you going to Bassnectar, we hope to see you all finish your bass-filled night with some funk at The Sacrament of Sound.
