EXCISION PRESENTS: LOST LANDS 2017
Soren Pietrangelo - August 11th 2017
Legend Valley, Thornville, Ohio
17 million years ago an asteroid ended the dinosaur’s run in a pretty spectacular way; with an impact equivalent to more than 100 trillion tons of TNT. The resulting chain of global catastrophes across the Earth wiped out 80% of all remaining life on Earth. This few million year old event was far out of anyone’s mind till now. Till Excision announced he was throwing a festival. One that will no doubt, have an impact on the Earth equal to that of the asteroid millennia ago. With 500k watts of sound him and his legion of head bangers, will impact the planet in the same magnitude as the dinosaur-ending-asteroid in the vicinity of Thornville Ohio… Scientists are counting down.
The festival features 60 bass music premiere artists from all over the planet. The 3-day event offers camping, multiple stages, and music till the early hours of the day. Excision (Jeff Abel) is spearheading the development of his own festival with the help of many allies. The Lineup has not failed to impress the target audience, Bass heads. Using crowd-sourcing tools such as Facebook polls to gauge interest on exactly what the fans were looking for. The prehistoric revival of the Paradox stage will bring lasers, face-melting visuals, and bone crushing live audio stylings by Jeff himself. He sets himself apart from other artists with his unique performance using masterful use of sound manipulation and directional sound. Able being the man he is and this line-up being the size it could not be limited to one stage. The second stage has been dubbed the Cave of Souls, sure to bring earth shattering drops as if from the Cretaceous era.
Coupled with the unbelievable lineup, Lost Lands will feature a variety of creative vendors, shops, and giant f@#&ing dinosaurs. Unlike most other festivals, camping will occur inside of the venue. Recently the GA camping passes sold out. The dino den passes had been sold out for quite some time at this point. Fans cried out about needing more passes and Jeff’s team was quick to service the public. More passes were released to soothe the concern of campers left without a pass. The Lost Lands Facebook page announced discounted hotel prices in the area and a campground nearby soon after. Lostlandsfestival.com is a creative mix of graphic design and humor. It is quite easy to navigate, the information is a light read, and the FAQ is filled with clever and sometimes sarcastic responses.
I wouldn’t sleep on this festival if you claim to be a basshead. When are you going to have the opportunity to attend a dub-heavy festival of this caliber? Excision has gathered a super storm of dubstep Djs and bass music producers, together capable of some serious destructive power! The lineup has to be seen to believed, Black Tiger Sex Machine, Zeds Dead, Dubloadz, Kai Wachi, Space Jesus, Spag Heddy, Monxx… The list goes on, for days, literally… Could you live with yourself if you missed the fabled b2b (back-to-back) of Excision vs. Datsik. This festival is rapidly approaching “sold out” status. I know where I’m going to be September 29th. Where will you be?
