1. The Line Up:
Hands down one of the best things about Broomhead is the lineup. Being located in Northern Michigan, it is very rare that Electronic Music comes farther north than Grand Rapids, so this massive lineup is a break through for dance music culture in the northern half of the state. Broomhead is packing in some of the largest up and comers on the scene, including Justin Jay, Filibusta, mija, Muzzy Bearr and Geovybe. Filibusta is the gem of the lineup. With heavy basslines and danceable melodies its easy to see why EDM heavyweights including Bassnectar, Stooki Sound, Hucci and more have collabed with him. After breaking onto the scene by winning a remix contest to play the Black Butter Records Stage at TomorrowWorld, mija has made quite the name for herself. After her debut she was quickly picked up by OWSLA--- super star DJ Skrillex’s label and even accompanied him for back to back sets at mega festivals including Bonnaroo and Burning Man. With her style ringing heavy with hip-hop infused house beats she’s sure to get the entire crowd dancing this weekend. Muzzy Bearr and Geovybe are notable Michigan locals. Muzzy Bearr is signed to GRiZ’s All Good Records, echoing GRiZ’s funky sound with lots of hip-hop samples. Besides nationally known acts there are plenty of wildly talented local artists that have been coming up on the scene in Northern Michigan. Locals you can’t miss include Sickadelics, Biomassive, Scott Perry, Soulkra and more. With genres ranging from future bass to trap music there is something for everyone to get down to.
2. The Price
One of the biggest things keeping people from attending music festivals is the price tag on tickets. Normally ranging anywhere from 100-400 dollars for admittance alone, festivals very quickly become a small fortune to attend. This is not the case for Broomhead, with tickets starting at only $60 it is at a price almost everyone can afford. The ticket price includes entry to two days of the festival, two nights of camping, and entry to the silent disco after hours to keep the party going all night long. Can’t make it for the full weekend? That’s okay, single day tickets are available for only $45! If you haven’t gotten your tickets already, grab them now at https://www.broomheadfestival.com/tickets gate day of show, and don’t miss out on the action.
3. The Venue
Broomhead Art & Music Festival is set to take place at Betsie River Canoes and Campground in Thompsonville, MI. Arguably one of the most beautiful campgrounds in Northern Michigan, the property features plenty of shade and tree coverage as well as a river to make hot days comfortable. The spacious area is nestled on 53 acres just minutes away from the world famous Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, making it a picturesque location for a music festival. With plenty of room for dancing at the stages as well as space to spread out your campsite, over-crowding should be the least of your worries. 4. VIP Camping Amenities
If you’re a seasoned festival goer, you probably know camping at festivals is usually not the most comfortable way to catch sleep between music. That is not the case at Broomhead with their VIP camping option. For $180 you can camp in style with electrical outlets at every campsite, access to fully plumed bathrooms, sinks, and even showers to keep you clean and comfortable throughout the weekend. The VIP option also includes access to a special main stage viewing area, guaranteeing you a spot up close and personal with the action all weekend long. VIP tickets are available at the gate and also online at https://www.broomheadfestival.com/tickets. Already bought GA tickets and want to spend your weekend in style? Don’t worry, you can still upgrade to VIP as long as there is availability, just pay the price difference of $120.
5. It’s More Than Just Music
Enjoying music isn’t the only thing to do at Broomhead this year. The venue offers a variety of activities to participate in including horseshoes, badminton, volleyball, disco golf and more. The most unique activity offered is canoeing and kayaking, for $35 you can rent a canoe or kayak, be shuttled 90 minutes up river to paddle your way back to the venue. If you have your own kayak or canoe, you are welcome to bring it to the festival and hitch a ride up river for a reasonable fee! Morning yoga is another great activity offered at the festival, whether you’re a seasoned yogi or have never done yoga before you’re welcome to join in!
